About Therapy

What is trauma-informed psychotherapy?

Trauma-informed psychotherapy is an approach that prioritises safety, nervous-system regulation, and containment before exploring difficult experiences. It treats responses like overwhelm, dissociation, or shutdown as protective strategies rather than problems to fix. The work is paced collaboratively, so nothing moves faster than feels manageable.

How do I know if I need therapy?

People often seek therapy when emotional pain feels difficult to carry alone, when familiar patterns keep repeating, or when coping has replaced truly living. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation to begin. An initial conversation can help you decide whether this feels like the right support.

If you are in crisis or at risk of harm right now, contact your GP, call 999, or call the Samaritans free on 116 123 (UK, 24/7). Therapy is not a substitute for emergency or crisis support.

What can psychotherapy help with?

Individual psychotherapy can support anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional distress; trauma and the impact of past experiences; relational and attachment difficulties; dissociation or feeling disconnected; burnout and loss of meaning; and identity-related or spiritual questions. It also helps when you feel "stuck" despite already having insight.

What happens in the first therapy session?

The first session focuses on creating a supportive, containing space where you can share what brings you to therapy and what you hope for. Jane explains how she works, including boundaries and confidentiality, and the work begins at a pace that feels manageable. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

Sessions, Fees & Format

How much does psychotherapy cost?

Individual psychotherapy sessions are £95 per 50-minute session. Clinical supervision is £100 per session for qualified counsellors and £75 for trainees (60 minutes each). Group supervision fees vary by group size and duration. Fees are current as of July 2026.

Are sessions online or in person?

Sessions are currently offered online, providing a consistent and accessible space for reflective work. In-person therapy from a dedicated therapy space is planned for later this year. Ecotherapy and nature-based group work are offered in person, seasonally, from Spring through Autumn.

How long is each session and how often do they happen?

Individual psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes; supervision sessions last 60 minutes. Frequency is agreed collaboratively at the outset and shaped around your needs, with attention to maintaining a contained and consistent rhythm rather than a fixed prescription.

How quickly will I get a response to an enquiry?

Jane usually responds to enquiries within 24 hours. Getting in touch starts with a no-pressure conversation to explore whether the work feels like a good fit — for therapy, supervision, group work, or training.

Clinical Supervision

Who is clinical supervision for?

Clinical supervision is offered to qualified therapists and counsellors, trainee therapists, clinical supervisors, and practitioners working relationally — whether independently or within organisations. It is particularly suited to those who value depth, reflection, and ethical awareness over technique or performance.

What is trauma-informed clinical supervision?

Trauma-informed supervision is a reflective, relational space where clinical practice is explored with curiosity and ethical sensitivity — without pressure to "get it right". Attention is given to relational dynamics, embodied responses, and wider systemic context, supporting clarity, integrity, and grounded decision-making rather than directing or fixing.

Group Work

Do I have to share personal things in group work?

No. You are never required to share personal material in group work. Listening, reflecting quietly, or participating in non-verbal ways are all valid forms of presence. Groups are trauma-informed and carefully structured, with clear boundaries and attention to pacing, so connection can build without pressure or overwhelm.

What is the "Into the Light" programme?

“Into the Light” is a 10-week online psycho-educational group for women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. It combines psychoeducation, reflective discussion, and therapeutic group process in a small, closed, carefully facilitated group. The Founding Cohort Launch Offer is £750 for the full programme, including initial assessment and materials, for the first six participants accepted or until 4 September 2026, whichever comes first. The standard fee is £795, and payment plans are available. An initial assessment is required.

Training, CPD & Upcoming Dates

When are the next workshops, CPD sessions, and programme dates?

Upcoming workshop, CPD, and programme dates — including the next "Into the Light" cohort and current CPD series — are listed on the Workshops & Training page, which is kept up to date: View upcoming workshops & training dates. Availability is limited and some groups require a brief intake before joining.

Who is the CPD training for?

CPD training is designed for qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, supervisors, trainees, and organisations. It suits practitioners who value reflection, integrity, and depth over quick techniques or outcome-driven certification. Themes include trauma-informed relational practice, neurodiversity-informed practice, mixed-heritage and multicultural identities, therapist use of self, and shame, belonging & identity.
